Unbelievable Malpractice Stories

Rhode Island Hospital

Unfortunately, this hospital doesn’t have the best record when it comes to brain surgery. Although they’re one of the most prestigious hospitals in the area for being a teaching hospital to Brown University students, the surgical team made a tremendous, yet basic mistake of operating on the wrong side of a patient’s brain, not just once, but three times.

Alexander Baez

In 1999, bodybuilder and former runner-up Mr. Universe, Alexander Baez, underwent surgery for pec implants. Much to his dismay, he woke up to realize the doctor had given him C-cup breast implants, not pec implants. After the surgery, police started searching for the doctor who had performed the surgery, Reinaldo Silvestre,  a man who had posed as a doctor who had no legitimate medical credentials. This wasn’t the only person on which Silvestre operated; he also operated on two other women in Florida using kitchen utensils. Fast forward to 2004, Silvestre was found in Belize where he has treated hundreds of other patients in one year.
